 In October 1997, the University was launched, with the Archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey, laying the cornerstone. Since then, 300 non-divinity students have enrolled to take bachelor's courses in education, business and social development, and now law. Most of them live in dormitories on campus, with no indoor plumbing, and electricity that goes out every other night. But the library has solar energy!
